Alex has worked in education for over 20 years, starting as a university outreach mentor and PRU volunteer as an undergraduate. Alex then spent 11 years as a Humanities Teacher and leader in a range of Secondary and FE settings, developing particular expertise in inclusive curriculum development, providing stretch and challenge and teaching emotive or controversial topics.

Having enjoyed studying for a leadership and coaching-focused PGCert alongside teaching, Alex later undertook a full-time MA in International Education and Development. She also spent time in Sierra Leone, developing coaching and mentoring approaches with local Teacher Trainers.

Alex joins the Trust from her role as Strategy, Policy and Delivery Adviser in the Department for Education, where she led a range of high-priority projects and managed key stakeholder relationships. Alongside this, she maintained involvement in strategic school improvement work as a regional governor in a large MAT, with responsibility for 7 schools (infant – secondary).
